Maia Hirasawa - The Worrying Kind

It's a rare and exciting occasion when one of my favourite acts covers another, and it isn't always a recipe for success (see Girls Aloud's With Every Heartbeat), but in this case the result is amazing. The original song, last year's Swedish Eurovision entry by The Ark, is great fun and very catchy, but Maia Hirasawa (member of Hello Saferide recently gone solo) gives it a whole new lease of life with this absolutely gorgeous slowed-down version. I can't stop listening to it! Her voice is lovely, typically quirky Swedish indie-pop sounding, and she's great at conveying emotions and personality in a subtle and original way. Its when I hear something like this that my intent following of the Swedish music business feels completely justified. I can't imagine life without knowing about Swedish music - how dull it would be!
